TorGuard Anonymous VPN Review

Author by

PROS / TorGuard has strong security features, including TSL and 256-bit encryption.

CONS / The dashboard is cluttered and not as user friendly as others on the lineup.

VERDICT / This service has a strong set of security features for guarding your online browsing and protecting your identity online.

TorGuard Anonymous VPN is a proxy service with 45 server locations and 20,098 available IP addresses. This proxy service uses 256-bit file encryption and TLS tunneling. While we found the user dashboard to be over cluttered and lacking in some of the features we were looking for, overall, this service does a good job of protecting your identity while you browse the web.

TorGuard Anonymous VPN has server locations in the U.S., U.K., Netherlands, Russia and Romania. If you connect to this proxy service, you can select any of its servers based on location or need. You can use this IP proxy on five devices simultaneously on one account. This means that you can secure all of your household devices, including your desktop computers and mobile devices.

This web proxy does not store logs or traffic from its virtual private network or web proxy. Though, the company privacy policy states it will collect information on how you use its website and that it does use cookies while you are on the site. It also states that it may use your personal identification information to contact you about promotional services and that it may share your data with its affiliates and business partners. We were disappointed in this since part of the goal for using an IP proxy is to remain anonymous while browsing and keep your information secure.

TorGuard has a 24/7 support desk where you can send emails. It also has live chat from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST. The live chat technical staff is knowledgeable and assisted us in trying to set up our VPN connection. The proxy software also has a blog with articles and updates, not just about the company's VPN service, but also about information security in general.

Security features with this proxy service are quite impressive. This service comes with a kill switch, which is essential for protecting your data and browsing identity if your VPN connection ever drops. Without a kill switch in place, you would be left exposed and identifiable if your IP proxy ever failed. This service also uses a variety of tunneling protocols, including L2TP/IPsec, SSTP, PPTP, OpenVPN and Ikev2. It also uses a strong 256-bit encryption and TSL.

This service does a good job of hiding your IP address and protecting your data from prying eyes. It offers 20,098 IP addresses for you to cycle through, and the help and support features do a good job of answering questions and providing information security resources.
