Electrolux is a world-leading manufacturer of home appliances. This company makes solid French door refrigerators with advanced features you will not find with other brands. The Electrolux EW28BS85KS comes with Wave-Touch controls that let you set the temperatures for each section of the fridge and has a total capacity of 27.7 cubic feet.
The Electrolux EW28BS85KS is one of the largest French door refrigerators in our review. The refrigerated compartment has 19 cubic feet of space and the freezer 8.8 for a total of 27.7 cubic feet. This super-capacity refrigerator provides a lot of storage space in all areas, including both of the French doors.
The Electrolux French door fridge is quite energy-efficient, with an estimated Energy Guide cost of only $60 per year to run, or $2.15 per square foot, which is low for a French door refrigerator with this amount of interior space to cool. It is also Energy Star qualified. This alone makes it the best French door refrigerator for keeping electricity costs low.
The refrigerated compartment has LED lighting that slowly increases in brightness when you open the doors. This feature gives your eyes time to adjust when you go for a late-night snack. This refrigerator features a touch-activated control panel. Once you are finished using it, the light slowly fades for an uncluttered appearance.
Another handy feature in this Electrolux fridge is the spill-proof glass shelves. The shelves are beveled and slightly bowed so that any spilled liquids run to the center where they can easily be wiped away rather than running down the sides of the fridge, which makes cleaning a chore. You can also adjust the height of the shelves, which is helpful for accommodating tall containers or bottles.
Also in the fresh food compartment, you have two product crispers in which you can adjust the humidity. The full-width drawer has nine preset temperature options and three customizable settings, so you can dial it to the perfect temperature for anything you frequently store in it. This is ideal for deli meats, party platters or other food you want to keep fresh and inviting.
In total, you have seven door bins, one of which is meant for dairy products such as butter and cheese, but it is not covered, unlike those in other French door refrigerators. This fridge has two bins capable of holding gallon-sized containers. The bins on the left side door are rather narrow, and the one next to the ice chute has only half the capacity of a normal-sized bin.
There is an icemaker in the fresh food compartment, as well as the freezer, so the ice chute takes up quite a bit of space on the left-side door. Having two icemakers comes in handy if you entertain a great deal or simply use a lot of ice. The Electrolux EW28BS85KS holds approximately 2.5 pounds of ice in its ice bin when full, which is a decent amount compared to the several French door fridges that only hold a single pound.
The Electrolux EW28BS85KS comes with a standard one-year warranty for parts and labor. It has a three-year extended warranty that covers the seal system, or the internal parts that keep the cooling system working.
There are user manuals online for reference. Electrolux also has video guides so you can see how to use your French door refrigerator. If you have questions that can’t be answered from your own research, you can contact live support through telephone, email and live chat.
Some aspects of the Electrolux EW28BS85KS are premium. The temperature-controlled drawer, dual icemakers and beautifully shaped glass shelves are great features. However, the narrow shelves are not accommodating of unusually shaped items, and the door bins are disappointing compared to the rest of the fridge. The things it gets right, though, are enough to make this one of the best French door fridges.
