Pros / It heats up really fast, which is great when you are in a rush.

Cons / Even the lowest temperature is over 300 degrees, and that's too hot for some hair types.

Verdict / The Conair Infiniti Pro Nano Tourmaline creates shiny, long-lasting curls on most hair types, and our testers found it very easy to use. It runs too hot for those with fine hair but is an excellent value for the price.

The Conair Infiniti Pro Nano Tourmaline, our Top Ten Reviews Silver Award winner, heated up faster than any other curling iron we tested, and it created curls that lasted for hours. This hair curler reaches high temperatures, has five heat settings and is built with a sturdy spring-clamp design. Our testers gave it some of the highest scores for performance and ease of use. Even with its excellent performance and features, this Conair model costs less than most of the other curling irons we tested.

Performance & Versatility

The Conair Infiniti Pro Nano Tourmaline received high marks in our tests. We used it on testers with thick, coarse, straight, fine and thin hair of varying lengths. The iron received top scores for all hair types, except straight and fine hair. It curled straight and fine hair; however, the curls were not as good as they were on other hair types. It runs too hot to be a good choice for people with fine hair anyway – even on the lowest settings, the temperature was over 300 degrees Fahrenheit every time we tested, which is unnecessarily hot for fine hair and can cause damage. For those with fine hair, consider the John Frieda curling iron.

This Conair model has a strong spring-clamp design, which holds hair tightly in place as you curl. It also has a tourmaline ceramic barrel and nanotechnology to smooth hair and reduce static and unwanted frizz.

Of the curlers we reviewed, this one was the second most accurate in terms of temperature; it was generally within 10 degrees of the temperature listed on its digital display, which is much more accurate than most of its competitors. Temperature accuracy is most important if you have delicate, fine hair that could be damaged by heat, but it is worth knowing for all hair types – there’s no need to use more heat than necessary to achieve a good curl.

Convenience

This Conair scored better for user-friendliness than all but three curling irons we tested. Even the testers who don’t use curling irons much liked this one. One said, "I got great curls very quickly, and I don't even know how to curl my hair." The strong clip makes things easier in most cases, and one person mentioned that this curling iron was the only one that held her hair securely in place during testing.

The Infiniti Pro Nano Tourmaline has convenience features like a swiveling cord and a lighted display that is easy to read. It’s not quite as nice as the digital displays other models have that let you scroll through a wider selection of temperatures, but it was much easier to read than the tiny dials on some competing units. The cord is a little shorter than some, but we didn't feel too tethered during our tests.

Safety

This curling iron has all the important safety features, including a protective heat shield. You place the heat shield over the hot barrel so you don’t accidentally touch the iron as it cools down. The curling iron also has an automatic shut-off, so it turns off on its own and cools down after a period of time elapses with no use.

The curling iron is designed with a cooling tip to help you curl your hair without burning your fingers. It is one of the better ones, too – while some of the cool tips were still too hot to touch, this one was comfortable to hold.

Warranty & Support

Conair’s customer support met our full expectations. This curling iron boasts a five-year warranty, which is the longest we saw on this type of device. Many similar products are only covered for one or two years. If you have any questions or concerns about the curling iron, you can contact the company by email or telephone.

Summary

The Conair Infiniti Pro Nano Tourmaline earned its place among the best curling irons, even though it is one of the least expensive models out there. It runs a little too hot for fine hair but does a great job on most other hair types. It also has a lighted screen and automatic shut-off capabilities, which are not found on many similar products. Overall, the Conair Infiniti Pro Nano Tourmaline curling iron is an excellent tool that produces beautiful curls.
