Pros / The design interface is really easy to use.
Cons / You cannot import photos from social media sites.
Verdict / Amazon Prints gets you high-quality photo books at low prices. There aren’t as many backgrounds or sizes as other companies offer, but all the options are stylish and appealing.
Amazon Prints makes beautiful, high-quality photo books at the lowest prices we've seen. You can even get free standard shipping, which makes it the perfect publishing choice if you want to make a book on a budget. However, this book publisher has fewer book sizes and background designs than many other companies. Since there are also fewer cover options with this service, it might not be a good choice for making a formal photo book.
In our tests, Amazon Prints scored well for both photo and book quality, with more than one tester stating that it had best photo clarity out of all the books they looked at. There are about 150 backgrounds available, fewer than we saw from other services, but they are all attractive so you are almost sure to find something you like. There are also a lot of sticker embellishments that you can use to personalize your books.
Amazon Prints only offers four different book sizes, so they might not carry the size you want. However, these sizes tend to be the most commonly ordered ones: 5 x 7, 8 x 8, 8.5 x 11 and 12 x 12. You can choose to have a hardbound, softbound or lay-flat cover, but there are no fancy cover options like leather or fabric materials. Additionally, these books do not come with a flyleaf, and Amazon does not offer bulk discounts at this time.
The online interface Amazon Prints employs is one of easiest to use. There are a decent number of page layouts to choose from when designing a page. Unlike some other photo book companies, this one allows you to create your own layouts by simply placing images wherever you want and resizing them however you want. You can either choose to manually input your photos, or you can use the autofill feature to speed up the process.
This program uses Amazon Prime Photos to store your images. An aspect that we really like about Amazon Prints is the Family Vault. You can connect with up to five other Amazon Prints users to share photos, which means you will have a larger database of images to choose from for your photo book project. Unfortunately, you cannot share photo projects between the five accounts, only photos. Amazon Prints also lacks the ability to import images from social media sites. Granted, it isn't hard to download images onto your computer from places like Facebook and Instagram, but there are services that conveniently eliminate those extra steps.
Amazon Prints books are backed by a strong money-back guarantee. You can only purchase additional pages in twos, but the cost per pages is cheaper than many other companies. In addition to the low cost, any order of $15 or more automatically receives free standard shipping. No other photo book company does this. Amazon Prints offers overnight shipping, as well as international shipping.

Amazon Prints is a great option if you’re looking to design beautiful photo books on a budget. While there are fewer backgrounds and book types to choose from, the quality of the selection is impressive. In our testing, the photos printed very well and the book was strongly made. Aside from the small choice of options, the biggest issue – which admittedly isn’t a deal breaker at all – is the inability to add photos to your projects from social media sites.
