Pros / Zazzle has many paper options and offers discounts for bulk orders.

Cons / There is no warning to notify you in advance if it detects a problem with your card’s design.

Verdict / Zazzle’s strong suit is the wide selection of templates for virtually any holiday or occasion. The service itself, however, isn’t quite as impressive as the selection.

While Zazzle offers all kinds of print services, for things like T-shirts, mugs and iPhone cases, its options as a photo card service are somewhat limited overall. Yet it excels in certain areas like holiday template and paper options. When it comes to card quality and service options, Zazzle suffers a bit, but it is still a solid photo card service with a great selection of cards and nice designs to choose from.

Zazzle has a wide variety of templates for all kinds of holidays and other events like wedding announcements. If you want to customize Christmas, Hanukkah, Valentine’s Day or even Chinese New Year cards from a selection of templates, this service has plenty of options. It was one of only a few services to get a perfect score for holiday photo card template selections.

The design quality of the templates also scored high. Whatever event or holiday you’re celebrating, there are a number of attractive templates to choose from. To test the quality of the cards themselves we ordered two cards with the same design on two different types of paper. We ordered one on cardstock paper, and the other had a subtle pearl gloss.

Our testers agreed that the quality of the two sample cards was very different. The cardstock had tiny ink spots on the front and back panels, and the cut was slightly off leaving a thin white line on the bottom edge. The pearl card came out much better; there were no ink marks, the photos were more vibrant and the card quality was better overall. The difference in quality between the two cards could have something to do with the fact that Zazzle outsources its print jobs to different companies. The paper quality for the two cards made a noticeable difference as well. The outsourcing may also account for why we only had to wait three days to receive the cardstock card, but we had to wait seven days to receive the pearl card.

While Zazzle has extensive templates to choose from, there is no custom photo card design option if you wanted to work with designers to create your own design from scratch or substantially alter an existing design. Zazzle also lacks a print quality warning. If a photo you’re uploading is the wrong size or resolution, a quality warning feature would detect this and send out a warning to let you know that the card will probably print incorrectly, but Zazzle doesn’t provide this service.

Another plus with Zazzle is you can buy 15 cards in bulk for $30, which is a decent amount for that price. You can also order one card at a time to make sure it is want you want before buying in bulk. Buying individual cards is pricey however. The two cards we ordered cost nearly $6, and shipping doubled the overall cost.

Zazzle representatives will answer questions over the phone or via email if you have questions or concerns. If you aren’t satisfied with your final product, you can utilize the money-back guarantee. However, be aware that photo card companies usually consider the origin of the mistake and assess if the error happened on their end before they will issue a refund. You can access a FAQs section online to get answers to questions you may have, and the representatives are generally helpful in answering questions.

Summary

Zazzle is a solid photo card service that has more paper options than any service in our lineup. It also has a wide variety of templates for just about any holiday or occasion. You can’t customize cards, however, if you have a specific design in mind; and there is no print quality warning service. If you find a design for Christmas photo cards you like on Zazzle’s website this service has affordable options for ordering them in bulk. Overall, Zazzle has many good options for ordering photo cards online, but getting the quality you want can be a challenge.
