Shelving & Capacity
This LG has 26.2 cubic feet of total storage space. The refrigerated section has 17 cubic feet of storage and the freezer has 9.2 cubic feet, combining for the most space of any side-by-side refrigerator in our comparison. Only the Electrolux EI26SS30JS has a larger freezer capacity of 9.45 cubic feet. This lets you store a lot of groceries and is especially helpful if you have a large family or host big parties.
Four slide-out shelves in the fridge compartment allow you to customize the space. It also has two drawers, though they are not humidity-controlled, which would be nice for keeping fruits and vegetables fresh. The refrigerator has four door bins for storing items you want to access easily.
The freezer compartment has one clear drawer that lets you see what is stored inside. The freezer also has four shelves and two door bins, all containing generous amounts of storage space. The freezer door also houses the icemaker.
Convenience
The adjustable slide-out shelves are among the most convenient features in this model. They let you easily access food even if it’s way in the back.
Other conveniences are a freezer-side water and ice dispenser and touch controls. The controls include a lockout feature so you can limit who can use the dispenser or when. You can also set an alarm to alert you when the door is left open longer than a set amount of time. The LG comes in the popular stainless steel but that is your only option. This model used to have three color options but the other two have been discontinued. For more color options with your purchase, check out the Samsung RS27T5200SR.
Efficiency & Warranty
The LG is an energy-efficient side-by-side refrigerator. It uses an estimated $73 per year, which equates to about $3.36 per cubic foot. This is one of only four models in our comparison that is Energy Star certified.
Like most of the side-by-side refrigerators we reviewed, this LG comes with a one-year warranty for parts and labor. The sealed system comes with a five-year warranty. This refrigerator also has a linear compressor that is insured for 10 years.
According to an LG live chat representative we communicated with, the linear compressor technology streamlines the mechanical operations in the fridge to circulate refrigerant more efficiently and thus reduce energy consumption. While the estimated yearly operating costs and electricity use are more than that of other refrigerators in our lineup, they are still comparable, which is impressive given the capacity.
In addition to an impressive warranty, LG has great support options. We found many of the answers to our questions on the LG website within the online user guides and other informational material there. Live chat, telephone and email support are also available for quick responses from a very knowledgeable support staff.
The LG LSXC22386S is a great side-by-side refrigerator that is Energy Star qualified and incorporates additional energy-saving features like a linear compressor to make it a smart buy. It’s not loaded with a lot of features, but the slide-out shelves are nice and give you quick access to food wherever it’s stored. There is plenty of storage space in both the frozen and refrigerated sections, though the drawers are not humidity-controlled, which would make them better for storing fruits and vegetables.
