Toro TimeMaster 21199: Features

  • Max cutting height: 4.25 inches
  • Min cutting height: 1.25 inches
  • Cutting width: 30 inches

The Toro TimeMaster 21199 is a self-propelled model which adjusts to your pace of walking.  It has plenty of features that will reduce the time and effort you spend on your lawn, while making sure you get the best and most professional-looking cut too. Highlights include Toro’s Dual-Force Cutting System and Atomic blades, which also slice grass into a fine mulch. Meanwhile, the two-point height-of-cut allows you to control your mowing height.

There is also a quick-stow storage handle, plus a washout port to easily clean under the deck of the mower. Full control is also in hand with the Personal Pace with Traction Assist that self-propels to match your walking pace, and keeps things level even on trickier terrain.

Safety features include the Spin-Stop Blade Stop System that stops the blade (and not the engine) if you need to briefly step away from the task in hand.

The Toro TimeMaster 21199 comes with a three-year warranty covering the whole product but also a three-year ‘guaranteed-to-start’ warranty too.

Toro TimeMaster 21199: Performance

With its Torque Briggs and Stratton 223cc OHV engine the Toro TimeMaster 21199 mower powers through its chores. Even at 63.5kg, this steel-deck machine is easy to control with the two-position handlebars and will make light work of yards from half an acre to a full acre in size.

This machine works well for residential use, but if you were looking to use the mower more often than once a week or for larger areas, then you should consider investing in a machine intended for commercial use. The cut is smooth, swift, and wide with the 30-inch deck, and full control is given courtesy of the aforementioned Personal Pace and Traction Assist, making it easy to push for most people.

As given away by its title, the big draw with the Toro TimeMaster 21199 is that it significantly reduces the time it takes to cut your lawn – ideal if you need to regularly maintain a large yard. In terms of gas use, then the 1.2-quart tank will see you through a mowing session, averaging about 45-60 minutes of runtime, which should be enough for most larger backyards of up to an acre.

Toro Timemaster 21199: Price

At just over $1,000, the Toro TimeMaster is priced accordingly to match its power and mowing capabilities. It’s worth looking online for cheap lawn mower deals as you will be able to find savings on it. However, this price won’t suit all budgets so check out the Troy-Bilt TB100 if you want a more affordable option.

Toro TimeMaster 21199: User reviews

On its website, Toro has more than 550 reviews for its Toro TimeMaster 21199, the majority of which are five-star rated. Positive comments focus on time-saving and ease of use, while some negative comments complain that the mower uses up fuel a little too quickly.

Over at Home Depot, the online reviews are also positive with over 2,000 reviews for this top-rated machine. The majority of five-star reviews are impressed with the professional cut and speed, while some downsides include the machine clogging and the occasional faulty machine.

Should you buy the Toro TimeMaster 21199?

With the ability to cut a much wider path on every pass, there’s no doubt the Toro Timemaster 21199 will save you hours when it comes to cutting your lawn. The Briggs & Stratton 223cc engine gives you the power, endurance, and durability you need too. And the self-propelled system that smoothly adapts to your walking pace, combined with the Traction Assist feature, gives you all the control you require for a beautifully manicured lawn.

However, it doesn’t come cheap. At well over a thousand bucks, even with special offers, the Toro Timemaster 21199 is right at the top end of most budgets. But if you want to save valuable time, without sacrificing the look of your lawn, it’s worth investing in this top-end mower.

If this product isn't for you

If you’re after a more affordable mower that combines maneuverability, a high quality build, and ease-of use, the Craftsman M105 gas mower has all three. You’re guaranteed to get a clean cut and a great result from your lawn, every time.

With a 196cc shaft drive engine, a 3-speed gearbox instead of a traditional belt drive, and a solid steel deck, the Weibang WB537SCV is a powerful tank of a mower, ideal for large backyards.

If you’re looking for a lighter mower that’s easy to move, store, or throw in the back of a truck, the Troy-Bilt TB160 packs a 160cc Honda engine under its hood, and still manages to weigh in at under 70 lbs.
