One look at the Savant Pro’s website and you'll see that this is a company catering mainly to owners of luxury homes. Despite this, the Savant Pro, like many of the best home automation systems, also works well in the average American home too, for reasons we'll go into below.

The Savant home automation system is compatible with home security products from a range of select partners, including Honeywell, making it a good choice for people looking for home security as well as a way to automate many aspects of smart home control.

Of course, we'd also recommend that you take a look at the best outdoor security cameras for monitoring the outside of your property, or a wireless security camera for keeping an eye on the more obscure spots in and around your home.

Savant Pro review: Overview

Savant has hardware partners across categories such as home entertainment, smart lights, climate control, including the best smart thermostats, and, as mentioned, home security. For a modular system that you can scale up as needed, we'd also recommend you to take a look at the Control4 Home.

The total number of Savant partners is less than you'll find with other top home automation systems, numbering only in the dozens rather than in the hundreds. Even so, the brands are varied enough that you should be able to find the right combination of extra products to further enhance your smart home.

Savant’s dealer network is also smaller than that of its competitors, but it still manages to serve the majority of the United States.

Savant Pro review: Design and features

The company doesn’t offer home security monitoring directly to its customers, but you can ask your Savant dealer for assistance in adding a compatible home security system. Savant Pro works with security cameras, the stream from which you can view live via Savant mobile app (iOS, Android). Savant home management systems are also compatible with safety sensors, such as smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, for added protection.

Savant has a complete set of home automation control features, controllable via app or through a device. For touchscreen controls, Savant offers a range of tablet wall and table mounts in lieu of manufacturing its own touchscreens. This is helpful since you'll have the same user interface across your system controllers.

Savant’s home automation system also has energy monitoring tools so you can keep track of how much electricity your home uses. The system also has scheduling and scene features that help you control compatible smart lighting throughout your home.

You'll also get a Savant Remote Pro, which is a universal remote that controls your home theater and whole-house audio equipment. This remote control is an excellent way to try out the Savant system before committing to a professional installation across your entire home.

Should I buy the Savant Pro?

Savant equipment has a two-year warranty, which is average for home automation systems but not as long as the lifetime warranties you get with the likes of Vivint. As mentioned, it also has fewer hardware partners than other systems, but it's easy to use and has a number of useful features.

The Savant Remote also enables you to try out an aspect of the system without requiring a full installation, which could be tempting for those of you who aren't sure about committing fully just yet.
