Video & Audio
In our daytime video tests, the D-Link DCS-2630L produced exceptional video quality in both well-lit and low-light scenarios. In particular, the Wi-Fi security camera's low-light test results were better than those in the well-lit room. Only one other camera in our review produced similar results, the Nest Cam Indoor. Overall, the daytime video is clear and captures movement without any visible distortion or lag.
The D-Link DCS-2630's field of view is 180 degrees, the widest in our review. This lets you see everything in front of the camera's lens, though there is a slight distortion at the edge of the video frame, as the camera's lens has a fisheye effect.
At night, the camera lost much of the quality we saw during the day. We could identify people closer than 10 feet, but we had difficulty seeing details past that. While the camera's infrared LEDs are very bright, they tend to wash out objects close to the lens. Similarly, the sound quality doesn't compare well with that of other cameras, making it harder to understand what people are saying.
Convenience & Operation
This wireless security camera is easy to set up and use. In fact, the mobile app is one of the easiest in our review. You can use the app to activate a variety of recording options and display technical details on the video, such as bit rate, frame rate and resolution.
Unlike most of the security cameras in our review, the D-Link DCS-2630L doesn't offer cloud storage. However, the camera stores its video on microSD cards up to 128GB, which is the largest local storage capacity in our review. If you use the camera's motion and sound detection, rather than recording continuously, you can expect the memory card to last longer before it fills up. You can also set the camera to record video on a schedule.
Help & Support
This home security camera's one-year warranty is normal for the industry. You can contact D-Link customer support over email and by phone. In case you prefer to troubleshoot problems on your own, the D-Link support website has a selection of tutorials and FAQs.
The D-Link DCS-2630L's wide field of view contributes to its excellent daytime video performance. The security camera also comes with a good set of features that are easy to use. While the nighttime image quality isn't the best, this security camera has much to offer.
