Pros / This is the quietest one we tested by far.
Cons / This unit is heavier than most and lacks a handle so it is harder to transport than others.
Verdict / The Miele Scout RX1 had some trouble navigating around obstacles but the suction was pretty good, especially on heavier debris like kitty litter.

The Miele Scout RX1 robot vacuum is the quietest of any robot vacuum we tested, measuring at just 56 dB. It allows you to go about your business without feeling like your quiet time is being interrupted, particularly if you only have a small space you want it to clean.
The robot vacuum cleaner had trouble navigating around obstacles like furniture and different flooring surfaces. Its suction was pretty good, though. It performed best when it was picking up more solid objects, like cat litter and breadcrumbs, leaving almost none behind. It had a rougher time thoroughly cleaning thinner matter, like pet hair.
If you have a home with a lot of floor space and need to set boundaries for the Miele Scout RX1 to clean only specific areas, then it requires more of a guiding hand. There are no virtual walls to keep it in place, and the magnetic marker is short and doesn't cover more than a small doorway’s worth of space. You can use the spot cleaning function to help keep it in smaller spaces, but it might still bump into things or be set too widely to keep within your boundaries.
The Miele Scout RX1 is a little heavy at 12.2 pounds. There was only one heavier unit in our robot vacuum reviews. Also, there is no carrying handle, so you might have trouble storing it or moving it from one spot to another.
When we ordered the Miele Scout RX1, we had to send the first model back because it refused to start after it was charged, and we were told by a company representative that we could bring it to a service center for repairs. If you run into this situation, then the robotic vacuum has a two-year warranty, which is twice as long as many other vacuums. There is also an online user manual, although there are no tutorials.
This one had some trouble navigating around obstacles and staying within established boundaries, so you will probably want to be at home while it cleans, but since it is the quietest one we tested, that cleaning time together will be mostly pleasant. There are others with more suction, especially on carpeting, but the Miele Scout RX1 did a decent job. It has enough power to make your home look cleaner in a short period of time, and to do so without causing a lot of commotion.
