The Makita 5007MG Circular Saw may be the most expensive model on our best circular saws guide, but it also packs in the most features and is the most refined option too. It contains highly durable magnesium components as well as a powerful 15 amp industrial motor, which means it creates faster and cleaner cuts, while the lightweight design is well-balanced and helps prevent fatigue when you’re using it.

While a good blade can make up for an ok circular saw, the Makita 5007MG combines a great blade with a saw that has been well-designed with job sites in mind.

Makita 5007MG Circular Saw: Pricing and value

The Makita 5007MG Circular Saw is the most expensive and high-end saw we reviewed, but it’s certainly not the most expensive on the market. It does offer great value for money though, with a fantastic range of useful features, a powerful motor, and durable build making it well worth the $160 price tag.

It’s only $20-$30 more expensive than the Milwaukee 6390-21, which is still a great option, but doesn’t have quite as much refinement as the Makita 5007MG and is missing a few useful features too.

Makita 5007MG Circular Saw: Features

As one of the most feature-packed circular saws we’ve reviewed, the Makita 5007MG has a lot to offer with elements that have clearly been designed for professional tasks in mind. It has an excellent magnesium build construction, which helps make it both light and durable, while the 15 amp motor can deliver 5800 RPM, making it a powerful option that will be able to handle job after job for years to come.

It’s this power that enables the Makita 5007MG to tackle a wide range of work, from framing walls, floors, and roofs in a range of dimensional lumber and dense engineered lumber, as well as rip panels including plywood, particle board, and dense structural panels.

The Makita 5007MG Circular Saw also has great plunge and bevel cutting applications. It has 56 degrees of bevelling capacity, just one short of the Dewalt DWE575, with positive stops at 22.5 degrees and 45 degrees, with a cutting depth capacity of 2 1/2 inches at 90 degrees.

The blade itself is a Makita 7 1/4 inch Premium Ultra-Coated Framing Blade with Advance Tooth Design, which features an "M" shaped tooth design with a two-pointed tip and two 10 degree bevel face for faster and cleaner cuts. This blade can even handle nail-embedded wood thanks to carbide tips.

More standard features that crop up often in other models include a built-in dust blower and blade wrench for quick and easy blade changing, but then the Makita 5007MG ups the ante by throwing in a few nice extras like built-in LED lights to illuminate the line of cut.

Ease of use is also well-considered, with the design featuring a rubber grip on the handle for comfort, as well as large, rubberized levers for fast one-handed adjustments.

For DIY enthusiasts, this model could be more than you’ll need, and you can save some cash by looking at cheaper, more basic models. However, for professionals, this circular saw is more than worth the higher price.
