The Oster Total Prep (FPSTFP1355) is a 10-cup food processor ideal for simple jobs like chopping or slicing food. Although it to perform as well as the best food processors in some of our tests – particularly with grating and pureeing – it still delivered fast results and required little time to reduce food to a usable state for cooking. Its simple design makes it easy to clean, and it has a powerful motor that ensures you’ll be able to quickly cut food of varying toughness.

This foot processor is equipped with a 10-cup bowl, an S-blade for chopping, a dough blade for kneading and a disk for shredding and slicing food. The 500-watt motor provides it with significant power to handle many tough foods. The front panel of the processor has speed settings that accommodate different methods of cutting. The settings are designed for slicing, kneading and chopping.

Although this blender food processor performed well with coarsely chopping food in our tests, it ultimately suffered with other tests, particularly those that required a finer output. It succeeded in slicing, shredding, and pureeing food to a degree, though the blade proves insufficient to process food in its entirety. Instead, it left large chunks of uncut food wedged between the blade and bowl. In other tests, softer foods ended up smeared against the bowl sides rather than fully processed. The processor could not puree the cauliflower we tested with in its entirety, leaving large chunks to simply bounce about in the processor.

The blades and disk for this food processor are easy to remove and install, and the bowl itself is easy to clean. It requires little work to disassemble for cleaning, though its overall design does present a small nuisance: The handle on the bowl has a hollow interior where water and sometimes food can get trapped and cannot be removed. Despite this, it rates as one of the easiest processors to clean and comes with a three-year warranty to protect against mechanical defects in the motor.

The Oster Total Prep is a small food processor that does a good job with cutting or chopping food, but it struggles to completely puree or grate items to any effective degree. It isn’t the best option for reducing food to a semi-liquid state, but its powerful motor and the included blades and disk give you good results for the most common food processing needs. Combined with its easy disassembly and cleaning, this device performs basic food processing tasks without requiring you to break your wallet in the process.
