The GE Profile PGP7030DLWW is a 30-inch, basic gas cooktop. It has five burners and some helpful features, despite its budget price.
Its primary Power Boil burner reaches a maximum of 18,000 Btu, which is hot enough to sear meat or boil water quickly. The Profile PGP7030DLWW also has a 12,000 Btu burner as well as two 9,500 Btu burners for general cooking and a 5,000 Btu burner for simmering and melting delicate foods or keeping already cooked food warm.
The Profile PGP7030DLWW ‘s durable metal grates are continuous, so you can slide big pots of hot food across them rather than lift the pots and risk spilling and getting burned. Also, you can remove the grates and put them in your dishwasher, which makes cleanup easy. Since all the burners are sealed, spills can’t fall beneath the cooktop surface – another convenient feature that makes the cooktop easy to clean.
This gas cooktop doesn’t come with a cast iron griddle, but you can buy one separately from GE. When you cook with the griddle, you position it so it spans the two burners on the left side.
The control knobs aren’t made of metal, but they are durable. They also have white LED back lighting so you can tell when a burner is on, even if the flame is very low. The controls sit on the front center of the cooktop, which puts them a reasonably good distance out of reach of children, unlike cooktops with controls on the front rim that face outward. If you want metal knobs for your cooktop, the Frigidaire Gallery FGGC3645QS is a good choice.
The Profile PGP7030DLWW comes with an LP conversion kit, and GE covers the cooktop with an industry-standard one-year warranty.
