Overall, the Whirlpool WFG525S0HV is an average gas range. It has a fairly standard cooktop setup with five burners as well as an average-size, 5-cubic-foot oven. The warranty is also just average, at one year for parts and labor. However, the WFG525S0HV is competitively priced and comes in six colors – both of which are advantages.

The stove’s primary burner outputs up to 15,000 Btu of heat. The four additional burners include two with midrange outputs of 9,500 and 8,000 Btu, another 15,000 Btu burner, and a 5,000 Btu simmering burner. The middle burner can be used with a griddle. However, unlike some other gas ranges, the Whirlpool WFG525S0HV doesn’t include a built-in griddle. The full-coverage continuous grates are made of porcelain-coated cast iron, and you can throw them in the dishwasher for quick cleanup. Since the burners are all sealed, spills can’t fall below the cooktop surface.

The oven’s broiler is among the least powerful we saw, only producing 10,000 Btu of heat. If you need a more powerful broiler, consider the Frigidaire FFGF3054TB – it has an output of 13,500 Btu. On the other hand, the oven can produce a lot of heat, reaching up to 550 degrees Fahrenheit, which is optimal for baking some doughs and crusts. Some of the other ranges we reviewed only reach 500 degrees.

Inside the oven, there are two racks that fit in five positions. However, the WFG525S0HV doesn’t have a gliding rack, which would make it easier to access food for stirring and basting. It’s also missing a proofing mode to raise dough. Further, this isn’t a convection oven.

The oven has a heat self-cleaning mode with pre-programmed cycles to loosen baked-on food without the need for harsh chemicals or special cleaners. However, it lacks a steam self-clean cycle. The WFG525S0HV also has a control lock to keep kids from turning the stove and oven on, and there is a drawer below the oven for storing pots and pans. If you already have plenty of storage space in your kitchen, then a range with a warming drawer may be better.

Whirlpool covers the WFG525S0HV with a one-year parts and labor warranty, which is the standard length for gas ranges. Whirlpool’s customer service is easy to access – we quickly got hold of a customer service agent by phone, and the company also offers email and live chat support.
