The Miele Dynamic Maverick is a high-quality, maneuverable vacuum cleaner for home that can rid your home of pet hair and cut down on allergens. It also comes with an exceptional seven-year warranty, several cleaning tools and a superior filtration system that can dramatically cut down on irritating particles in the air you breathe.
This machine has six stages of electronic rotary power. The rotating bristles on the floor roller are arranged in a wave design that enhances cleaning power and makes it easy to clear away hair or threads, a difficult task since they are clingy and prone to entangling in carpet pile. This vacuum is especially helpful when it comes to sucking up pet hair – it got top marks for this during our testing.
The roller brush adjusts its height automatically as it moves over carpets of different thickness, and you can gently move it from a flat surface to carpeting by pressing your toe on a footswitch. The beater moves at a regular speed and pressure and can thoroughly clean heavily soiled areas. You can also turn the brush off to vacuum smooth flooring. The cleaning path is a good 14 inches, so you don’t have to make as many passes in a room to get the floor clean as with smaller models.
The Dynamic Maverick has a powerful three-stage filtration system with a special dust bag, a motor protection filter and a Miele exhaust filter, all of which combine to filter more than 99.99 percent of dust. While other vacuum cleaners advertise great filtration or even HEPA-like filters, this Miele offers genuine HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filtration that meets U.S. Department of Energy standards. In addition, it clears away minute, unwelcome particles of such things as pollen that can trouble people with allergies or asthma. The system is also sealed so you aren’t plagued with dust escaping the vacuum.
The vacuum’s swivel neck makes it easy to get around furniture and any other obstacles in your way. It is equipped with a 39-foot cord, so you don’t have to stop cleaning to plug and unplug the device as you move from one area to the next. The lengthy electrical cord, hose and extendable wand give you an operating radius of 54 feet. Another decided plus: This is one of the quietest vacuums we tested.
One drawback is this vacuum’s weight. At 21.7 pounds, it is heavier than any other vacuum we tested. This makes it a bit of a chore to lug around, especially when you clean stairs, although it is sturdy and built to last. If you need a lighter vacuum cleaner, check out the Bissell PowerGlide.
The Miele has a dirt sensor that tells you the state of your floors as you vacuum. There are also indicators to alert you when it's time to change a filter or the bag that collects the dust and debris you clear from your home.
If you have the misfortune of vacuuming up a stray sock that blocks the air flow, never fear. This upright vacuum contains a built-in overload capability that automatically protects the machine by turning it off if it overheats or something malfunctions.
For added convenience, often-used tools are mounted on the back of the vacuum within easy reach. These include a dusting brush to gently clear away dust from lampshades, window blinds and books; a crevice nozzle to get into any tight corners, along baseboards and in between sofa cushions; and an upholstery brush that nicely cleans furniture, cushions and sofa pillows. This vacuum also comes with an extension wand, and the handle stands 3.8 feet, which is standard for most upright models.
This vacuum comes with an exceptional seven-year warranty. Only one other vacuum in our product lineup gives you this much coverage.
The Miele Dynamic Maverick is a well-designed vacuum cleaner that’s easy to maneuver, thanks to its smooth swivel neck. The vacuum comes with genuine HEPA filtration that not only pulls dust, pollen and mites from your floors and furniture, but also doesn’t emit them back into the atmosphere since the system is sealed. This is a somewhat heavy upright vacuum, but it is equipped with internal protections and alerts, a lengthy warranty and plenty of service centers if you need any help keeping it running for years to come. In all, this is a great choice, if you don't mind the high price.
