The Braun Series 7 790cc-4 is the highest-performing, most expensive electric razor we tested. With four synchronized shaving elements and five shaving modes, it cleanly shaves even dense facial hair. Its MSRP is $229.99, but it’s worth the investment if you’re looking for advanced shaving technology in electric razors. Prior to Braun’s introduction of its new Series 9 shavers, it was considered the top-of-the-line.
Although we may consider Series 9 shavers in future reviews, those razors have MSRPs above $300, outside the upper pricing limit of $250 we set for our lineup. In contrast, the Wahl LifeProof 7061-100 and Remington F8 WETech both have MSRPs under $100, and they are our best overall and best value picks, respectively.
If spending more than $200 on a razor is within your budget, the Braun Series 7 is a solid choice. Our testers consistently praised the Braun for its impressive performance, and its consumer reviews are overwhelmingly positive.
“This razor is comparable to, if not better than manual shavers,” one tester told us. “I would personally buy it if I could afford it.”
Part of what makes this razor so effective is that its adaptive motor can automatically adjust its power to the density of your beard. Its personalization settings let you choose from five shaving modes, and its shaving head flexes in eight directions. It also has ActiveLift technology to lift and cut flat-lying hairs, along with a pop-up trimmer for precision detailing of your facial hair and sideburns.
This razor’s rechargeable lithium ion battery provides up to 50 minutes of shaving time on a one-hour charge, and it has status indicators for its battery life, charging status and hygiene status. You’ll also know when it’s time to replace the shaver’s foils. This razor is 100-percent waterproof for use in the shower, and you can shave with water, shaving foam or gel. You can also shave dry.
Cleaning the Series 7 is easy. You can rinse the shaver under running water every time you shave, and it also comes with a cleaning brush, a Clean&Charge station and a cartridge of alcohol-based cleaning solution. Along with these accessories, you’ll get a charging cord and a pouch for storage and travel. For international travelers this shaver has worldwide voltage adaptation, but it doesn’t have a travel lock to protect it from accidentally turning on during transport. Its only other reported drawback is that our testers reported its motor as being noisier than most other shavers’.
Braun warranties the Series 7 790cc-4 for two years. If you need customer service, the company provides support by phone and live chat. An online self-service tool is also available.
