Our Verdict

With Intex’s Fiber-Tech construction, a healthy selection of accessories, and a built-in water softener system, the PureSpa 77 Bubble Massage Spa offers several fine touches that would suggest a much higher price.

For

  • Inbuilt water softening
  • Child-safe cover locks
  • Designed to be durable

Against

  • Moderately priced, but not the cheapest

The Intex PureSpa 77 Bubble inflatable hot tub is a well-designed inflatable hot tub with a range of great feautres, making it one of the best inflatable hot tubs out there. Unlike cheap inflatable hot tubs, the Intex PureSpa 77 Bubble Massage Spa features heavy-duty construction and an excellent selection of accessories while still being very affordable.

The tub has Intex’s Fiber-Tech construction, which reinforces laminated PVC with a layer of specially structured fiber material. The result is an inflatable spa that is not only durable, but, according to the manufacturer, is sturdy enough to support the weight of an adult sitting on or leaning over the tub wall.

Intex PureSpa 77 Bubble: Main features

Measuring 77 inches across with an interior diameter of 58 inches, the 28-inch deep tub holds 210 gallons, making the Intex PureSpa 77 Bubble a fairly standard hot tub size. The tub seats up to four people, if you need a larger hot tub, check out our Coleman SaluSpa inflatable hot tub review.

The Intex PureSpa 77 Bubble comes with a thermal ground cloth, which is designed to both protect the vinyl on the bottom of the tub from damage and add a layer of insulation. A fitted top cover secures the tub when it's not in use, and it has a foil lining for better heat retention. The cover can be secured with several straps, and each strap features a child safety lock.

The combination pump and heater circulates water first through a built-in water softener and then through a standard water filter. Built-in water softening is an uncommon feature in an inflatable hot tub, and it should extend the life of your pump and heater by reducing mineral buildup inside the unit. The unit is powered from a standard 110 to 120-volt outlet, and the included power cord has a ground fault circuit interrupt (GFCI) plug built into the unit. Using the heater’s digital control panel, you can set the temperature between 68 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit or switch on the tubs' 120 heated bubble jets.

The bubble jets are powered by an air pump, the same one that circulates water through the spa's water-filtration system and which inflates the tub when you first set it up. An included air pressure gauge helps you inflate the tub to just the right level, and a specialized wrench is included for tightening the air valve as needed.

The tub comes with a carry bag for easy storage and portability. Other accessories include a package of three-way test strips (which test for pH levels, alkalinity and free chlorine levels), a floating chlorine dispenser and two filter cartridges. Intex backs the PureSpa with a 12-month warranty, which includes both the tub and the combined pump and heater unit.

Should you buy the Intex PureSpa 77 Bubble?

The Intex PureSpa 77 Bubble is a moderately priced inflatable spa with solid construction and a generous warranty. With Intex’s Fiber-Tech construction, a healthy selection of accessories, and a built-in water softener system, the PureSpa 77 Bubble Massage Spa offers several fine touches that would suggest a much higher price.
