Breville Juice Fountain Plus JE98XL Review

This powerful juicer made healthy beverages fast and nicely fills most of its generous-sized pitcher with juice and only a little of the undesirable froth that some juicers produce. This juicer is strong enough to take on even hard produce such as beets with no trouble, and it is easy to clean.

Our Verdict

This juicer produces very little froth and a low amount of pulp, which is great since it means more juice and less waste. It also comes with a big pitcher so you can make quite a bit of juice at one time.

For

  • This juicer has the tallest pitcher of the products we tested, and its filter grate was the easiest to clean.

Against

  • The juice cover and food pusher are not dishwasher safe.

How well a juicer performs is clearly the most important characteristic of any juicing machine, and the Breville shines in this area. Our testing with green produce went smoothly; not every juicing machine can take on leafy greens and do a good job. It created very little froth or pulp once we strained the mixture, and the resulting juice was translucent and ready to drink.

For juicers, a far tougher test is whether a machine can withstand harder and more fibrous produce like beets, carrots and apples. The Breville zoomed through two whole beets with no trouble; we only needed to cut the two apples in half instead of many small pieces like some juicers require, and whole carrots got pulverized, all in short order. There was little prep time, no splatter or escaping messiness, and we got our juice quickly.

Our testing showed that if produce can fit past the fins that jut out at the bottom of the tube where you insert produce, this juicer can handle it. We also found that this created only a small amount of pulp from the fruits and veggies we tested, which means that we got most of the juice out of our produce.

Setting up the Breville Juice Fountain Plus took only 30 seconds. It includes seven parts, and the bowl and grater snap in and out of the device much easier than other machines.

Cleaning took a bit of time. It took about five minutes to hand wash. Five of the juicer parts are dishwasher safe, so you can rinse them initially and then wash them in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, the juice cover and food pusher must always be washed by hand.

You also get a small cleaning brush, which is quite helpful when it comes to dislodging tiny bits of fruits or vegetables from the mesh filter grate that can be surprisingly stubborn to clear away if you don’t have a brush.

This is a powerful machine, which is great, but that is accompanied by a bit of noise. We measured this at 93db, which makes it one of the noisiest juicing machines we tested.

The Breville comes with one of the tallest pitchers, and at 1,000 ml (33.8 ounces), it holds a lot of juice. The pitcher also features an opening for the juicer nozzle to fit into so you won’t have to contend with drips on your kitchen counter. The pitcher also includes a froth separator so you don’t have to strain juice before drinking that.

The Breville Juice Fountain Plus is a well-designed, strong machine that can handle dense vegetables.pro For overall versatility and usability, the Breville is a good choice.
