Why you can trust Top Ten Reviews Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.

The Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood is a good value kitchen essential that will help to get rid of cooking smells and smoke when you’re preparing meals.

Measuring 30 inches and available in stainless steel, white, and black, the Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood has a 250 CFM (cubic feet per minute) airflow, which isn’t as powerful as some wall-mounted range hoods. It is fitted with two lights at the front of the hood and has simple and easy-to-use controls in between the two lights.

We’ve reviewed a variety of different range hoods. To find the right one for you, head to our guide on the best range hoods around.

Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood: Features

The Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood is ideal for everyday cooking in domestic homes. This range hood measures 30 inches and has been designed to be fitted under a cabinet, meaning it won’t take up as much room as a wall-mounted model.

This range hood is easy to operate with two switches, one to control the lights, the other to control the fan speed. The lights inside this hood are 35-watt halogen lights and the fan speed is controlled by a two-speed hidden rocker.

For this review, we’ve focused on the stainless steel finish which is easy to wipe down and keep clean. There’s also a removable grease filter that can be removed by using a quick-release latch. The filter is dishwasher safe, making for easy cleaning and an almost effortless way to stay on top of grease and grime building up on the range hood.

However, it is worth noting that the Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood isn’t fingerprint resistant so you’ll have to watch out for sticky fingers leaving marks behind when you switch it on or adjust the fan speed. The switches are also positioned on the underside of the hood, which may be an issue for some users.

The Broan range hood’s design is simple and stylish and will complement lots of kitchen cookers and appliance finishes. The color you choose will affect the price of the model too, with the stainless steel finish being the most expensive option.

This range hood comes with a one-year warranty, which considering the range hood is under $200, isn’t too bad. One drawback, however, is that the Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood isn’t Energy Star certified, so this model isn’t the most economically designed range hood you’ll come across.

It’s also worth noting that as this is one of Broan’s more affordable range hoods, it doesn’t come with any mounting brackets and you will need to buy these separately. Many other, more expensive models will include the brackets in the original price.

The Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood can either be installed vented or ventless (without a duct), which means you have it collecting steam, odors, and smoke and releasing them outside via a vent, or you can purchase additional charcoal filters which mean you won’t need an external vent.

If you do choose to go with the charcoal filters option, you’ll need to replace these filters at least every six months.

Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood: User reviews

The Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood scored an average of 4.5 stars out of five on Lowe’s. Users state this range hood is easy to install and easy to clean. Others also mention that the fan operates quietly but you will need two people to install this hood.

There were some criticisms too. Some users said that due to the positioning of the lights at the front of the cooker, the back of their cooker wasn’t illuminated well. Many expressed that four lights would make this hood better.

Should you buy the Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood?

The Broan CLSC130SS Undercabinet Range Hood provides a functional and good value option for removing odors and smoke when you’re cooking. Its design is stylish and will complement many kitchen appliances. This Broan range hood isn’t the most powerful though and four lights instead of two would improve this model.
