The HP Officejet Pro 8100 is a compact printer from the HP Pro line of printers, which is primarily made up of all-in-one printers. The 8100 is the workhorse of the HP Officejet Printers. You will not be disappointed by the speed and quality this printer produces, let alone the workload it can handle.
The HP Officejet Pro excels in both speed and printing quality. This professional mini printer boasts speeds up to 16ppm when printing in color, which makes it by far the fastest color compact printer we could find. The speed is impressive enough by itself, yet the quality of these prints is equally impressive. This HP Pro model can print at 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi, which puts it among the best-rated printers we reviewed.
When you get down to the bare bones of printing (black and white), this printer is equally impressive. Black-and-white prints fly out of this printer at 20ppm. This small printer also can print in black and white at a maximum resolution of 1200 x 600 dpi, so it holds its own against LaserJet printers that are more expensive.
If you or your business needs to print a ton of documents, the HP Office Pro can be your workhorse in the office. It can handle up to 25,000 prints per month before you have to worry about any wear and tear.
It is incredible how versatile this printer can be. This compact printer can handle an array of media sizes. You can print on 3 x 5-inch index cards up to 8.5 x 11-inch letter formats. You can also print borderless prints on sizes up to 8.5 x 11 inches. From index cards to envelopes, there isn't much this printer can print on.
The HP Officejet Pro 8100 can handle a great amount of paper. It can hold up to 250 sheets of paper at once, which is the highest amount among the best-rated compact printers. It can also hold up to 30 envelopes.
Like other HP models, this printer is also capable of ePrinting. ePrinting is the wireless network that is set up through the HP website with which you can print documents and photos from your mobile device using your HP Officejet Pro. During set up, your HP Pro will be assigned an email address, and when you want to print from your mobile device, you send your printer an email with the documents you want to print as attachments. If you don't use the wireless printing functionality, your compact printer will connect to your computer via USB.
It should be no surprise that a printer with this much speed and quality would have some bulk to it. As far as size and portability goes, this printer ranks in the lower tier of the printers we reviewed. At 19.45 x 25.43 x 11.18 inches (W x D x H), the HP Pro is more on the hefty side of compact. It also weighs 24.2 pounds, so it's not really a mobile printer.
If anything happens to go wrong with your printer, you are covered by the one-year warranty for HP printers. Also available for your convenience are downloadable drivers and user guides on the HP website to keep you informed and your printer up to date. If you have any questions or concerns about your printer, you can contact HP via telephone, email and live chat.
