The Electrolux EFLS627UIW has been designed to rival the best front load washers on the market. And it does a pretty good job of it too. Including a spacious capacity of 4.4 cubic feet, this is an ample size for family homes and it will fit a king-sized comforter in it. There’s a range of useful wash cycles, as you’d expect from this type of appliance but at nearly $1,000, it’s certainly not one of the cheapest models we’ve come across.
Here we find out if the Electrolux EFLS627UIW is worth its weighty price tag.
Electrolux EFLS627UIW: Size and installation
- Width: 27-inches
- Height: 38-inches
- Depth: 32-inches
If you want to, you’ll be able to install the Electrolux EFLS627UIW yourself but many retailers offer this as an additional extra too. Before you buy a new washer though, it’s key that you measure precisely where you’re going to keep it. As the Electrolux EFLS627UIW also has a matching pedestal, which you can buy separately, you’ll need to allow extra height room for this too.
The Electrolux EFLS627UIW will need to be installed on a firm floor, it’s not suitable for keeping on top of carpet. According to the manufacturer, this machine doesn’t come with the connecting hoses so you’ll need to ensure you have those.
You’ll also be able to reverse the door swing direction on this washer, but it’s best to measure the area you want it to swing into prior to taking the door off.
Electrolux EFLS627UIW: Features
The Electrolux EFLS627UIW has a capacity large enough for family loads of washing, however, if you want maximum capacity (or a big family), we’d recommend taking a look at the LG WM9000HVA review.
What’s different about the Electrolux EFLS627UIW is that it features a specially designed detergent drawer that has a compartment for detergent pods, as well as the other usual compartments you’d expect - bleach, fabric softener, and regular detergent. This is the only washer brand that offers this, and it’s been designed to help detergent reach the washing load more effectively.
The Electrolux EFLS627UIW also has a SmartBoost functionality. This clever feature mixes the detergent and water before the cycle begins. This allows the detergent to be more effective on stains and provides a more thorough clean.
You can expect to find all the standard wash cycle settings on this Electrolux washer, but there’s also a steam setting and a sanitize mode that can kill up to 99% of bacteria and 95% of allergens too. Unlike many other models, the steam actually rises from the bottom of this washer’s tub which allows for a deep clean.
If you’re in a hurry, the Electrolux EFLS627UIW has a speedy 15-minute wash cycle, and if you want to decrease drying time, there’s a choice of spin settings to rid your laundry of excess water. The maximum spin speed on this model is 1,300 RPM, which while respectable, isn’t the fastest on the market.
What the Electrolux EFLS627UIW is lacking, however, are smart-enabled controls. That means, unlike the Samsung WW22K6800AW, you won’t be able to set this washing machine to work via your phone, nor will you be able to diagnose any potential problem with an app either.
Electrolux EFLS627UIW: Design & performance
The Electrolux EFLS627UIW is available in a choice of two colors - white or titanium. The titanium finish is more expensive than the white model. There’s a matching dryer available and you can also purchase pedestals if you need them.
The wash tub on this machine is made of steel to prevent it from snagging any of your laundry items or chipping off. This is something most decent models offer now though. The control panel on this washer is positioned across the front of the machine and features a large countdown timer to show you how long is left in each wash. There’s also a button to select if you’re using detergent pods.
Allowing for flexibility, the door on the Electrolux EFLS627UIW can be reversed with relative ease. Another feature we love, though, is the interior light on this washing machine. Helping you find that last stray sock, this is a feature that not all premium models offer.
Another design feature that the Electrolux EFLS627UIW has is the ability to automatically adjust water levels in order to avoid wasting water. This makes it more efficient so it’s no surprise to see that this model is Energy Star rated - the gold star in efficiency. With annual running costs estimated at $7, this is one of the most impressive washers we’ve seen in terms of efficiency. While it might cost more than some other models, it often pays to choose an Energy Star certified model, as it will save you money in the long run.
The Electrolux EFLS627UIW is suitable for stacking if you need to save floor space. It also comes with a lifetime tub warranty and a 10-year warranty on the motor.
Electrolux EFLS627UIW: User reviews
The Electrolux EFLS627UIW has amassed a huge number of customer reviews, with 4,497 on Home Depot’s website alone. This popular model scores an average of 4.7 out of five stars on Home Depot and users praise the stylish finish of the titanium-colored model. There’s also plenty of five star reviews that comment on how quietly this machine operates, some users also praised the number of cycle options too.
The specialist pod compartment was a hit with many reviewers and another also added that the ‘spin cycle gets clothes really dry’.
As you’d expect, not all reviews are positive. Some users were frustrated to find this machine didn’t come with hookup hoses. Despite the five star reviews, there’s also a handful of users that find this washer too loud, with one saying she had to position the machine in her basement to combat this. Interestingly, many users commented on how much they like Electrolux products so had chosen to buy again from the manufacturer. What they added, however, was that they found the Electrolux EFLS627UIW to feel ‘cheap’ and not as well made as previous models they’d bought from the company.
Should you buy the Electrolux EFLS627UIW?
The Electrolux EFLS627UIW doesn’t have all the fancy features of a smart-enabled washer, but it makes up for that with its well designed detergent drawer, really impressive energy efficiency, and even small details like the internal drum light. Its controls are easy to use and it has a modern design. It is pretty pricey but we think it makes up for that with the money it could save you in running costs.
