Why you can trust Top Ten Reviews Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.

The Cuisinart  Precision Master stand mixer review gives you great control over how your recipes are prepared since you have 12 mixing speeds, which puts it among the best stand mixers we reviewed. The planetary-style mixing (orbiting paddle and rotating bowl) moves the ingredients all around the bowl so everything gets well-blended.

Cuisinart’s stand mixer includes a low speed that’s meant for folding ingredients. That, combined with the tall stainless steel bowl and a helpful splashguard, means that flour, powdered sugar and other dry ingredients stay nicely in the bowl instead of flying out to dust the counter and you. This is a great value stand mixer for those who want a high-performing model without the price of the KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer.

Cuisinart Precision Master stand mixer review: Features

The 5.5-quart stainless steel bowl is the biggest bowl of all the mixers we reviewed, and it’s tough enough to withstand being dropped on the floor with no dents, scratches or other damage. This mixer’s bowl has two handles on either side, which gives you more stability as you carry a bowl full of batter or dough. The locking tilt head – a common feature on home stand mixers – makes it easy for you to switch out attachments and gives you better access to the contents of the bowl. If you want a mixer with two bowls, one metal and one glass, consider the Breville Bakery Chef, but be aware that it costs more than the Cuisinart.

The Cuisinart stand mixer comes with a paddle attachment, a whisk and dough hook so you can make everything from cake batter to fluffy meringues to cinnamon rolls. However, you can spend more to get extra attachments to turn this mixer into a frozen dessert maker, a pasta roller and cutter, a pasta extruder and a meat grinder.

If you run into trouble, you can easily contact customer support by phone or by filling out an email support form on the website. The website is also where you can find the user manual and recipes, which is helpful if your manual gets misplaced. Cuisinart guarantees its stand mixers as defect-free for three years, which is a big step away from the standard one-year warranties.

Cuisinart Precision Master stand mixer review: Performance

The Cuisinart Precision Master 5.5-Quart Stand Mixer proved in our tests that it is a kitchen workhorse that can blend, whip and knead with the best mixers on the market. It comes with a big and durable stainless steel bowl, three attachments and the option to buy four others for other cooking tasks.

During our 10-minute bread dough test, it quickly and easily mixed a two-loaf batch of ingredients together and kneaded it into a beautiful ball of smooth dough. When we felt the dough once 10 minutes had elapsed, we could detect a tiny bit of stickiness, but nothing that would prevent it from baking into excellent bread.

We also found this powerhouse Cuisinart did a fine job blending the ingredients for chocolate chip cookie dough. The paddle left a tiny bit of butter on the side of the bowl, but nothing that would indicate poor blending, and the resulting dough looked and felt well-mixed. When we added the chocolate chips, they were nicely incorporated into the rest of the dough and none of them got pulverized.

We found the same excellent results when we whipped 4 ounces of room-temperature egg whites for four minutes as part of another test. We got a great amount of airy volume and the stiff peaks that we wanted within four minutes.

Should you buy the Cuisinart Precision Master stand mixer?

When it comes to buying a stand mixer, the Cuisinart Precision Master stand mixer combines high-performing design with an affordable price. It's not got the lever function of many stand mixers, which could prove fiddly for those not accustomed to dials, but the Cuisinart outperformed many more expensive models in our tests across the board.
