The Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker is a good value rice cooker that uses three cups of rice to create double the amount of fluffy cooked rice.

Available at under $30, this rice cooker won’t break the bank but it also won’t give you endless functions and smart features like some of the more premium models offer.

Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker: Features

The Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker is very easy to operate. Switching it on is as simple as flicking a switch. Because of its simplicity though, the Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker doesn’t offer as many functions as other rice cookers. For example, there isn’t a delay timer function so you’ll need to make sure you’re around when the machine is on.

This rice cooker can be used to cook frittatas or even banana bread and it also has an in-built steam basket so that you can cook vegetables at the same time as your rice. What the Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker lacks, however, is the functionality to select which type of rice you’re cooking. Other models like the Zojirushi NS-TSC10 Rice Cooker allow you to select whether you’re cooking white or brown rice and then the machine will cook it accordingly.

The Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker has an inner pot that is made of metal. This is quite uncommon for a rice cooker within this price range and is better in terms of durability.

As well as coming with a metal non-stick inner pot, this rice cooker benefits from a steaming basket, measuring cup, and a ladle for dishing up your rice once it’s cooked. Once your rice is ready, the Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker has a handy keep warm setting so that you can keep it in the pot until you want to eat.

Overall, the Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker offers all the basics for creating fluffy rice at home, but it lacks in other areas such as not having functions for different ingredients and not having a delay timer.

Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker: User reviews

The Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker has an average rating of 4.3 stars out of five on Amazon. The gleaming reviews for this rice cooker include one that states ‘this is absolutely awesome. It can be used to cook noodles, make rice, make soup, and even a hot pot.’

The not so positive reviews frequently mention how batches of rice ‘burn on the bottom’. There are comments about cooking inconsistencies and one user mentions ‘it overcooks the rice once it switches to the keep warm feature’.

Should you buy the Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker?

For a basic rice cooker that won’t cost the earth, the Oster 6-Cup CKSTRCMS65 Rice Cooker is ideal. It has a keep warm feature and a steaming basket so that you can create an entire meal using just one small appliance.

If you are looking for something more sophisticated, you will have to pay a bit more but you will have more functions and a rice cooker that can do more for you.
