For

  • Powerful for an electric blower
  • Relatively cheap
  • Quite light

Against

  • Doesn't do well with wet snow
  • Cord limits your range

If you're looking for alternatives to gas-powered snow blowers, the Greenworks Snow Thrower 2600502 is a great option. It's a common fact that gas-powered snow blowers are more powerful than their electric counterparts, but this Greenworks model manages to perform as well as a single-stage gas thrower, which is very impressive. What's more, it's relatively cheap and it's lightweight, weighing a mere  35 lbs, making it easy to maneuver and guide through paved areas. It’s also great for decks, patios and other areas close to the house.

The Greenworks 2600502 features a 13-amp motor, providing significant power toward not only picking up snow but also moving it a great distance. This snow thrower has a snow clearing width of 20 inches and a cut depth of 10 inches, which is remarkable for a compact machine. It can discharge snow up to 20 feet through its 180-degree-adjustable chute. It has issues with wet snow, and it can't throw this as far, but works extremely well with dry snow. Because of the lighter weight, it's ideal for decking too, as it won't damage the wood as it throws the snow. If you're in need of a heavier, gas-powered thrower, we'd recommend the mighty Honda HSS928AAT - our top pick.

Without a gas tank and associated engine pieces, it reduces the overall weight and the potential for pieces to malfunction with age. An additional perk of electric blowers is you don’t need to purchase gas or perform seasonal cleaning of fuel engine parts. Unfortunately, this blower has no self-propulsion functionality, but it’s light enough that it shouldn’t be a problem in most situations.

The 13-amp version is corded, so your range is limited, although you can upgrade to cordless blowers with the 40V and 80V versions. These are more powerful too, but this comes at the cost of weight and expense.

The Greenworks snow blower turns on with the flick of a switch. You can adjust the rest of the device for comfort, such as the handle height and length to one of three settings. You can store the power cable in a cord lock along the handlebar, which means you don’t have to worry about the cable becoming a tangled mess.

It's quieter than gas throwers too, due to the fact it's electric, so is better if you're in a built-up neighborhood. And yes, the fact that it is electric is slightly better for the environment, although the carbon footprint of a snow thrower is very small.

Should you buy the Greenworks Snow Thrower?

The Greenworks Snow Thrower 2600502 is one of the best electric snow throwers due to its maneuverability and durability. Greenworks is well known for its high-quality products, and combined with the eco-friendly nature of electric machinery over gas power, this snow thrower is a suitable solution for most any snow removal. The Greenworks snow blower proves quite capable of clearing snow from short driveways and small paved areas. For larger areas and wet snow you'll probably need a gas powered thrower, but this is great for anyone with lighter snow-falls and smaller yards to clear.
