Wolverine has created an easy to use device that converts slides, as well as 35 mm and 110 film, to digital images. With a large integrated memory and one of the highest resolutions available on the market, the Wolverine F2D Mighty is an outstanding slide to digital image converter.
Whether you’re a photography enthusiast who enjoys working with less-common film formats, or you finally have the time to digitize all of your cherished memories from decades past, the F2D Mighty is a great option. It easily works with the most commonplace 35 mm format, as well as 110, 126, 127 and Super 8 film, and quickly converts them. However, if your old media collection is primarily comprised of physical printed photos, this device can’t help you – it’s for slides and negatives only. Despite this, what it can convert, it does well.
The easy-to-use quick start guide takes you systematically through each step of setting up the device and converting an image with it. Navigating the menu is easy and intuitive since there are only a handful of possible settings and all are clearly marked. The unit comes with high-quality plastic frame adapters that securely hold your film and slides for conversion without damaging them. The adapters are easy to use and facilitate fast image processing.
This slides to digital converter uses a high-resolution fixed digital camera to capture images in less than three seconds. If you have thousands of slides to convert, having such a fast-working unit is a must.
Wolverine equipped the F2D Mighty with a 20-megapixel resolution sensor just like the Wolverine Titan, Most modern smartphones capture up to 16MP photos, and with its 20 MP sensor, the F2D Mighty can give you high-quality digital images from your slides and negatives.
Although the Mighty does a decent job of rendering shots of your negatives and slides, it does lack an automated scratch removal function. Additionally, it doesn’t come with any image editing software, like the Hammacher Schlemmer Slide & Negative to Digital Picture Converter. The exposure controls are helpful, however, as they allow you to change the brightness level of a photograph to better enhance dark spots. Moreover, if you already own Adobe Photoshop or a similar program, this isn’t an issue.
Included in the box, besides the slide converter, is a slide tray, power adapter, USB/power cable and cleaning brush. Additional accessories, like a 110-film tray or negative roll adapter, are available for this converter through Wolverine, but you must purchase them separately.
The compact design and lightweight build of this converter make it highly portable and easy to maneuver. It weighs just half a pound. Additionally, the F2D Mighty has a standalone design, so you can use it anywhere and not have to rely on it being connected to a computer in order to work.
Compared to other converters, the Mighty’s 20MB of integrated storage is a stand-out feature since you cannot save images directly to a computer as they are scanned. If you have a ton of media that needs scanning, simply save it to an SD card then transfer it to an external device.
Getting product support through Wolverine is easy. You can contact their customer service reps directly via email or telephone, or peruse the FAQs and other informational resources on the company’s website. If you send Wolverine an email inquiry, you should see a response from them in less than 24 hours.
The Wolverine F2D Mighty may not digitize printed photos, but it is one of the absolute best at-home tools for converting a huge variety of film and slide formats. With an impressively high output resolution, and integrated storage capacity, the F2D Mighty is one of the best slide to digital image converters available.
