Verizon is one of the best internet providers out there, and it's now rolled out pledges to help its most vulnerable customers stay connected through the coronavirus pandemic.
“We understand the hardships that many of our customers are facing, and we’re doing our part to ensure they have broadband internet connectivity during this unprecedented time,” said Ronan Dunne, CEO Verizon Consumer Group. “With so many Americans working and learning remotely from home, having access to reliable and affordable internet is more important than ever before.”
Many of us are now facing months of barely leaving the house, which means we'll be more dependent on the internet for shopping, work, and keeping in touch with loved ones. Verizon says that over half of its customers are on an unlimited data plan for their wireless contract, but for those that aren't, it's giving out an additional 15GB of 4G data, starting tomorrow and running through April 30.
This is similar to the offer from AT&T, another one of the best cell phone providers, which was released nearly two weeks ago. AT&T is pausing its broadband data caps during the coronavirus outbreak entirely, giving customers the freedom to work from home without worrying about additional internet charges.

Verizon: Support for low-income households
In Verizon's pledge to keep the vulnerable connected, it's also planning to 'waive overage charges and late fees to support customers who may be financially affected by the COVID-19 crisis.'
What's more, it's rolled out a new internet option for low-income households, and waived service charges for current Verizon customers that are part of the Lifeline discount program.
Starting April 3, a new Fios deal, which will give low-income customers access to Verizon's impressive fiber-optic network, will secure a $20 discount per month. "That means new customers can get Fios Home Internet 200/200Mbps service for just $19.99/mo, with Disney+ on us for one year and the first two months of their router rental charge waived."
Verizon is also running some great deals on cell phones right now. In response to COVID-19, you can now buy a smartphone online and the activation fee will be waived.
