When it comes to the best washer dryer combos, it really doesn’t get much cheaper than the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5. However, that does mean you get less than some models in terms of fancy features. For example, unlike many other washer dryer combos in our roundup such as the GE GFQ14ESSNWW, the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 has no steam wash setting.

Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 review: Features

  • 16 cycle settings
  • Sanitize and self-clean setting, but no steam option

That being said, the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 does have a range of wash and dry options. There’s 16 available wash cycles, including a sanitize setting and even a self-clean function. Small load, heavy soil and even activewear cycles are also available. It’s common to have less dry than wash cycles, but the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 still has four to choose from, including a damp dry setting for lighter or only partly wet loads.

Most individual washers and dryers will cost you more than the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5, each, so for a 2-in-1 machine, the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 packs in serious value for money. That’s reflected in customer reviews for this machine too, with many testifying that the good value of the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 doesn’t come at the expense of great and easy use.

Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 review: Size & dimensions

  • 2.8 cubic foot capacity
  • Compact

The Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 washer dryer combo has a good capacity for a machine of its price. It may not be as much as the LG Signature LUWM101HWA, which has 2.8 cubic foot of capacity, but it’s not far off at 2.7 cubit foot Washer dryer combos are designed to fit into homes with limited space, such as apartments or rooms where your laundry machines need to fit under a counter. This can mean you miss out when it comes to a large-capacity machine, but you do get the added advantage of not transferring your freshly washed laundry into a dryer.

A 2.7 cubic foot machine will happily cater to most households, and although you might need to run more individual loads, you’ll find that the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 is a generous capacity for a washer dryer combo.

In terms of specific dimensions, the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 washer dryer combo is 23.4-inches wide, 33.5-inches in height, and 23.4-inches deep. It’ll fit well into most spaces, including under counters and in laundry rooms.

Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 review: Warranty

As with other washer dryer combo models, the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 has a 1 year warranty of parts and labor. This isn’t as good as the LG Signature LUWM101HWA, but it’s not bad either.

Should you buy the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5?

If you want a low-cost washer dryer combo, the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 is a brilliant choice. It’s hard to get a washer dryer combo for under $1000, but the Magic Chef has all the features you need from a 2-in-1 washer dryer, and it does it with a great amount of wash and dry cycles to boot. If you want something with a few more features, and you have more to spend, this wouldn’t be our first choice, but the Magic Chef MCSCWD27W5 has a good capacity and will fit into just about any space you need it to.
