The Dyna-Glo Smart Space Living is an affordable gas grill that performed slightly better during testing than the higher-priced Dyna-Glo 5-Burner. Both grills take less than four minutes to reach 500 degrees Fahrenheit, but the Smart Space Living retains heat a little better. This could be because of its porcelain-coated cast-iron grates. They are difficult to clean compared to the porcelain-coated grates on the best gas grills, though, and the back and center of the grill burn hotter than the sides, resulting in somewhat uneven cooking.

The primary grilling space is on the small side compared to our top-rated gas grills. We fit 16 hamburger patties on the main area and only four buns on the warming tray, but this is not bad for a small barbecue grill. This compact gas grill is a good option for decks with limited space, as the side tables fold down for storage and it fits into tight spaces. If you need more cooking space, consider our top pick, Weber Genesis II.

Although this three-burner grill retains heat well overall, there are hot and cold spots on it. You have to be vigilant with whatever you're grilling to ensure it doesn't overcook, but opening and closing the lid so often results in fluctuating temperatures.

This propane grill has basic features but lacks extras such as a side burner. You can buy a rotisserie kit separately if you want to roast meat while you grill. It has six convenient hooks on the side table, so you have a place to hang grilling tools and other accessories. Many manufacturers charge extra for this convenience. It is lightweight and easy to maneuver, with two swivel casters that lock into place when the grill is in use and unlock when you want to store it.

The burner has a five-year warranty, and the parts warranty is good for a year. While that is enough time to get some good use out of it before the warranty expires, it is shorter than most other grills' warranties. It comes with an assembly manual, and you can download an owner's manual online. If you have questions or concerns, you can reach Dyna-Glo's customer support via phone and email.

The Dyna-Glo Smart Space Living is a compact grill that cooks up to 16 burgers at a time, heats up fast and retains heat well. It doesn't have a lot of extras, but you can make it more versatile with the purchase of a rotisserie kit. It doesn't take up a lot of space in storage or on your deck when you cook like larger outdoor grills do. This convenience, though, doesn't make up for the uneven heating we experienced.
