The Bissell CleanView Upright 1831 is a bagless vacuum cleaner that promises enough power to do your cleaning jobs in just one sweep. This is mainly down to its Bissell One Pass Technology and innovative brush design that delivers a more powerful suction on initial blast.
The Bissell brand has been around since 1876, earning its reputation for developing quality cleaning tools.

Bissell CleanView Upright 1831: What is it?
Although it may appear bulky, this Bissell upright is lightweight and easy to push around the home. It comes equipped with an ‘easy empty’ dirt tank, advanced air filtration system, and washable foam filter for more hygienic and simple maintenance.
Well engineered and designed to specifically lift up pet hair, this is a huge plus for busy pet owners! And with the use of the Turbo Brush tool, you can easily lift dirt, debris and hair from stairs and upholstery. It also has an extended reach with a 25 feet cord, 6 feet hose and extension wand to tackle those hard-to-reach spots.
Bissell CleanView Upright 1831: Performance
Despite its small price tag, the Bissell CleanView Upright 1831 has all the power you’d expect from an expensive brand. Thanks to its patented One Pass Technology, this helps to deliver an impressive power to give outstanding results.
Although it may not literally clean a grimy carpet in one stroke, it does give a superb clean in less time than other models. Strong suction combined with a powerful rotating brush, performed consistently well on hard flooring, carpets, stairs and upholstery. The TurboBrush tool worked exceptionally well in lifting pet and human hair, which is always a challenge to remove.
Equipped with five height adjustments, this conveniently suits your cleaning needs, perfecting a deep clean from under low furniture to fluffy carpets. Notably, this model is incredibly lightweight and portable, compared to other uprights. Making it easy to carry up and down stairs or push around with minimal effort.
Bear in mind, the cord is on the short side at only 25 feet long, but this can be overlooked by the 6-foot extension wand to give you extra reach to clean those pesky cobwebs. If you have stairs or upholstery to clean, there are several attachments more suited to use.
The large 2-liter dust cup is sufficient enough for multiple cleans, with a handy Max Fill line to ensure you don’t overflow the collector. The ‘easy empty’ design mechanism is exactly that! It opens up at the bottom and allows dirt to go directly into the bin without messy accidents. Coupled with its advanced multi-filtration system, any dust particles will be trapped which is perfect for allergen sufferers.
The Bissell CleanView Upright 1831 offers an impressive clean at an even more impressive price!
Bissell CleanView Upright 1831: Features
Considering that it’s cheap and cheerful, the Bissell CleanView Upright 1831 has some quality features. Its stand-out feature is the One Pass Technology which essentially means a more powerful clean in minimal time. This should cut your cleaning chores in half, saving you more time and power.
Another impressive feature is the five height adjustment mechanism for multi-surface cleaning that can tackle every floor surface. This is particularly handy for accessing those tricky spaces under a low level bed or sofa and ensures you don’t miss a spot.
A more practical feature is the Bissell CleanView's ease of use and portability. This model is designed to be lightweight and easy to carry and push over large areas without breaking a sweat. This vacuum is, however, noisier than other models we reviewed.
It benefits from a unique, Multi-Cyclonic System that effectively filters every dust particle and common allergies, which is ideal for allergy sufferers.
It also comes with a handy set of cleaning tools to handle any type of surface. This includes the TurboBrush tool for picking up human and pet hair from surfaces, Dust Brush, and an Extension Wand for cleaning elevated surfaces.

Bissell CleanView Upright 1831: User reviews
The Bissell CleanView Upright 1831 does consistently well in user reviews. Wayfair scored it a 4.7 out of 5 from 2,036 reviews, while Amazon averaged a 4.2 out of 5 from 5,708 reviews.
The vast majority were impressed with its suction and powerful main brush on wood flooring and high-pile carpets. One user even went as far as to say it made their carpets ‘look brand new again’. Customers mentioned the ease of use and lightweight maneuverability to push around and rated the TurboBrush in removing heavy piles of dog hair with ease.
Others praised the removable, dust canister mechanism that made emptying out debris quick and more hygienic. Users also found it easy to clean and maintain.
The main criticism was the shorter length of the hose and cord, which meant users had the hassle of plugging and unplugging in each room. The model also doesn’t have an automatic roll up and it’s noisy compared to other vacuum cleaners.
Should you buy Bissell CleanView Upright 1831?
If you’re after a budget-friendly yet powerful upright cleaner, the Bissell CleanView Upright 1831 is a great choice.
We were impressed by its powerful cleaning performance, especially for hardwood floors and high-pile carpets. Its lightweight design makes it easy to carry and push around the home, which is handy for cleaning stairs or awkward spots.
The only downside is the power cord is shorter than most vacuum cleaners, which doesn’t allow much stretch. However, the 6 feet extension wand can easily resolve this and give you that extra reach for ceiling and walls.
