The Hoover REACT stands out for its long battery life. It lasted longer than any of the cordless models we tested. It tied for third best on our cleaning tests and is a decent option if you want a stick vacuum for quick clean-ups, smaller hardwood areas and rugs. This is really not the one you want if you have an entire house of hardwoods to clean. All of the stick vacs, including this one, will get tiring to hold after a while. This is one of the lighter ones, though. If you prefer an upright for longer cleaning projects, check out the Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed.
The REACT struggled a little when we tried to get it to remove flour from the hardwood flooring in our laboratory. There were competitors that struggled a lot more, though. This was not among the ones to remove anything in one pass, but it cleared our test messes faster than all but the best deep vacuum cleaner.
This bare floor vacuum comes with quite a few accessories, including a crevice tool, dusting brush, upholstery tool and extension wand. These will give you a lot of flexibility for cleaning draperies, furniture and all areas of your home.
The Hoover REACT was about in the middle of the pack in terms of noise production, which means it is not abnormally loud. Vacuum cleaners cannot be expected to have quiet operation, but we like the ones that were at least quiet enough not to bother the neighbors.
Hoover offers a three-year warranty on this unit, which is better than most hard floor vacuums we compared. Customer service options are many and include videos if you have any questions.
There were quite a few vacuum cleaners that outscored the REACT for cleaning power, but this one still did reasonably well in our tests. Also, it was an absolute winner for battery life among the cord-free units so you will not have to stop and recharge all the time. All of the stick style vacuum cleaners like this one get heavy after a while, so it may not be the best for deep, whole-house cleaning but it is great for everyday maintenance.
