Why you can trust Top Ten Reviews Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.

The Nectar Mattress is an innovative memory foam mattress, with four foam layers and a temperature-regulating polymer cover. It comes with an exceptional 365-day trial period, which means you have a whole year to return the mattress and get your money back, if you decide you don’t like it. Competing brands tend to offer a 100-day trial instead.

The Nectar is delivered rolled and compressed in a box – which makes it relatively easy to load into your house and onto your bed-frame. It's also very good value, and often comes in cheaper than many rivals. It earns a spot on our best mattress online guide because it combines great features with some pleasingly low prices.

In our Nectar Mattress review, we look at the mattress in terms of features, design, spec, prices and sizes, and analyze what existing customers think of it, all to help you figure out if it's the right choice for you.

Nectar Mattress review: Price and value

These prices place the Nectar roughly on-par with other popular memory foam mattresses like the Casper Hybrid Mattress and the Leesa Original Mattress. The RRP of the Nectar actually tends to be a little lower than those other brands, depending on the size of mattress.

However, Casper and Leesa Sleep seem to be a little more generous with money-off promotions on their mattresses, so we’d put all three brands in roughly the same price bracket.

The RRP of the Nectar mattress ranges from $499 for a Twin to a $999 for a Cal King. Pricing is as follows: Twin: $499 | Twin XL: $569 | Full: $699 | Queen: $799 | King: $999 | Cal King: $999.

  • Firmer end of the memory foam mattress spectrum
  • Very comfy mattress that will delight users
  • Great for back sleepers

The Nectar is at the firmer end of the memory foam mattress spectrum, providing a more supportive feel than the likes of the Casper Hybrid Mattress and Leesa Mattress. On the flipside, the Nectar does not have quite the same cushioning effect as the Leesa. That said, the Nectar is a very comfy mattress that will delight users who like memory foam in general, but sometimes find it a little too soft or saggy.

Our favorite thing about the Nectar is its temperature control – a factor which is extremely well catered for in the design of the mattress, between its temperature-regulating cover and its breathable upper foam layer.

Our reviewer found that they could sleep on it without getting too hot throughout the year, as the Nectar’s cooling effect increased in-step with the temperature. We'd also recommend taking a look at our best cooling mattress guide for further options.

We found this mattress comfortable whether we were sleeping on our front, back, or side. If we had to pick one sleeping position that suits the Nectar especially well, we’d choose back-sleeping. Also take a look at our guide to the best bed toppers if you want to add an extra layer of comfort and support.

Nectar Mattress review: Features

  • Cover made from temperature-sensitive polymer
  • Has four foam layers
  • Total thickness of 11-inches

In our view, the Nectar’s standout feature is its cover. Made with an innovative, temperature-sensitive polymer, it encourages evaporation at an increasing rate as your body temperature gets warmer. This is a remarkably effective method for keeping the user at a comfortable temperature year-round.

Beneath its clever, cooling cover, the Nectar has four foam layers to keep you comfy and supported. Nearest the top, a 1-inch quilted gel memory foam layer provides contouring and helps air circulate through the mattress. Next down, a 3-inch layer of gel memory foam adapts the mattress to your body.

Below that, a 0.5-inch layer of hi-core foam gives the Nectar more bounce than your average foam mattress. And finally, a 5.5-inch base layer provides added support and stability. The Nectar’s five components have a total thickness of 11-inches.

Nectar Mattress: User Reviews

Over 24,000 customers at the Nectar online store have given the Nectar mattress an average rating of about 4.4 out of 5 stars. User reviews of the Nectar tend to mirror our reviewer’s findings, especially regarding the Nectar’s comfort level, cooling capabilities, and suitability for back-sleepers.

“Love this bed, I can even sleep on my back, something I hadn’t done in a long time. [It is] so much better than my old spring mattress, it’s firm but not too firm, and cradles your body. Prior foam mattresses I’ve tried out retained heat badly, this one stays comfy,” says one buyer.

“Deepest sleep I’ve had in a long time!” says another.

Negative feedback on the Nectar is hard to come by, though some customers do note that the mattress is a little firmer than they had expected.

Should you buy a Nectar mattress?

Nectar has occupied a unique space in the mattress market, by creating a product at the firmer end of the memory foam spectrum which moderates the user’s temperature like no other.

This unique combination of qualities makes the Nectar a perfect option for those who like to feel well supported, do not like sprung mattresses, and sometimes have trouble sleeping during the summer months. If that sounds like you, be in no doubt: this is the mattress for you.

Back-sleepers are another group of customers who should seriously consider the Nectar. We found the mattress superbly comfortably when lying on our back, and we even noticed one online customer review that stated the Nectar was enabling that person to sleep on their back for the first time in years.
