Hoover REACT Whole Home Cordless Advantage has many of the features that we value for stick vacuums, including versatility, cord-free operation and long battery life. You can expect roughly 30 minutes of run time on a single charge. Only the Dyson Cyclone v10 boasts a longer battery life.
It did have trouble on some of our cleaning tests, though, and it seemed rather unpredictable, struggling on different tasks in different rounds of testing. When we poured sawdust on carpeting it seemed to just move the sawdust around, at least at first. It struggled with pet hair as well giving one of the worst performances we had seen during our testing. It cleaned most debris eventually, and that is the goal of every vacuum cleaner, though there was a bit of sawdust residue on the carpeting after that test.
The REACT is great in terms of flexibility. It comes with lots of accessories for cleaning different types of messes around the house. You get a crevice tool, dusting brush, upholstery tool, pivoting extension tool and a long wand for reaching draperies and high into ceiling corners.
This vacuum cleaner was relatively quiet, but it emits a high-pitched noise that is sort of annoying. It is a little above the average weight of the stick vacuum cleaners we tested, but there were definitely heavier ones. But its small price tag is enticing.
The Hoover boasts a long warranty. The average for our comparison was two years, but the REACT has three years of coverage. That inspires confidence in the product.
This one is a champion for battery life, but its suction is far less impressive so you may spend much of that battery life going over the same spots multiple times. We like all of the versatility, though. With so many accessories you can clean a lot of different things in your house without having to drag out the upright. It can't replace your upright for heavy-duty cleaning, but for specific spot-cleaning, it's at least helpful.
