Webroot Parental Controls is good internet filter software with a fair amount features designed to ensure the safety of your child as they surf the internet. Parental Controls allows parents to monitor which sites are accessible to their child, and follow up later on to see which sites their child visited. You can choose to receive this information in a daily, weekly or monthly report; or you can go at your own convenience. Parents also have the ability to set up profiles for each of the computers users to enact predefined levels of internet restriction.
With Webroot Parental Controls you can determine how much time each child spends on the internet and which sites they visited. Parental Controls can restrict kids from changing Windows system settings; it can block children from the control panel, network controls, taskbar and start menu properties and more. This software will work with the Vista operating system as well as XP. The program runs quietly in the background and is inaccessible to anyone without the right passwords.
Though this program works well as a parental control program, it does not have as many filtering features as some of the higher ranked programs. This software filters by URL, category and keyword, which may not be enough to block everything. This service is far more suitable as a parental control program since it excels with time restrictions and monitoring.
Parental Controls is relatively easy to use. It has many good features that are clearly labeled.
We found this program more difficult to install than its counterparts. At first it would not load correctly, and when it did, we had to spend more time than we would have liked getting the program open.
Overall we found Parental Controls to be a decent program, but not as in-depth and vigorous as some of our top rated programs.
